TRANSPOWER HOUSE (SHELL HOUSE)
PROJECT TYPE: INTERIORS
USE: COMMERCIAL
LOCATION: 56 THE TERRACE, WELLINGTON
CLIENT: WILLIS BOND AND CO

PROJECT TIMEFRAME: 2002-2003
The heritage-listed Transpower House, formerly known as Shell House, was one of the first modern towers on The Terrace in Wellington, an area now dominated by office high-rise.
LT McGuinness was asked to refurbish and re-strengthen the building to ensure its ongoing suitability for commercial offices.
We worked with the developer Willis Bond and Co, the owner Ron Brierley, and the design and structural consultants to come up with the best building solutions having regard to cost, timing and other issues.
The new tenant, Transpower New Zealand Limited, also engaged us to undertake the interior fit-out. Transpower had unique requirements for this part of the project, particularly for the security and protection of its electricity network systems.
The entire project was completed on time in 2003.
